Whaling by Japan is an act of eco-terrorism. UNEP should intervene into
the matter for the Conservation of Whales and marine ecosystem. Greenpeace
International is doing good job for the
Conservation of Whales and Environment.
Best wishes for the success in your mission.

Japan Whalers need to turn there ships around and go back too where they came from .There ships are not welcome in the Southern Oceans!! Stop the killing Japan!! Greedy Termites!!
please. PLEASE do some research before opposing the actions of the japanese. If, AFTER taking a look at the facts and events in more depth then the pictures/videos shown in the headlines you still feel as you do, thats great. You’ve thought for yourself and i applaud that. Please don’t be sheep. I do not condone commercial fishing/killing of whales. I do however have no problem with fixing ecological problems which WE have caused.

Blue whales are still having problems increasing their population while the Minke whales are currently increasing by 4% ANNUALLY and have been since the eighties. Thats a gigantic jump in numbers, the population is higher then it has ever been recorded. The abundance of minke whales is preventing the growth of truly endangered species. The abundance of minke whales is having a detrimental effect on the population of numerous species of aquatic wildlife.

WE destroyed the population of these animals, its up to us to restore them. The best way to aid growth is to remove competition. Unfortunately this means we have to reduce the population of the minke whale. that sucks, killing these magnificent creatures is a painful sight but still it must be done to protect other species from extinction.

tl;dr: Minke whales are overpopulating the area making it impossible for other species to thrive. Minke growing at 4% annually. Japan researchers are given special permission to cull 2k (less then 2%) per year and use bodies for research.

Wolf- I am all for educating oneself and being informed, or, not ’being sheep’. I still disagree with you and I do not think that killing Minke whales should be condoned, or is the answer. That being said, I have two points to this. One, I do not have another solution to restoring the species we have already decimated. Isn’t there a lesson already there waiting for us to realize what our meddling does? Two, when you post factual information, would you supply links to support your stance? If you want people to be informed, supply some information to support what you are stating.
